Benefit for the American Cancer Society, North Eastern Colorado Unit.
Relay For Life is a team relay event to raise funds and awareness
to fight cancer in our community. It is an 18 hour celebration of life honoring
cancer survivors. Throughout Relay, community and family spirit is encouraged
as team members camp out, enjoy diverse entertainment as well as food, games
and camaraderie. Relay For Life 2004 was a huge success. We had 203 teams,
544 survivors and we raised almost $500,000.
Thanks to our customers and vendors who donated to the three Clean Teams.
Plan to join us at Relay For Life 2005 on June 3-4 at Island Grove Park.

Relay 2005
From the Greeley Tribune
It was cold, it was wet, and participants had to walk around inside a park building, but Relay for Life still produced outstanding results this year, organizers said. At the closing ceremony on Saturday at the Island Grove Event Center the several hundred participants who stuck it out until the end cheered as the final figures were announced.
Despite the rain, 635 survivors attended along with 229 teams. All together, they raised $520,000 according to preliminary figures announced at the closing ceremony Saturday.
The final figure may change, Nancy Clark, district executive for the Relay of Weld County, said. Costs still need to be deducted and future donations may come in during the summer, particularly since many who might have participated didn't because of the weather. Clark said it's too early to make any clear-cut comparisons between this year's results and last year.
Still, the money raised by Weld County supersedes that raised by much larger cities such as Denver and Colorado Springs, making Weld County's relay one of the nations largest regardless of population size. The sum exceeds last year's total of $425,000 as well as the goal of $500,000 set for this year's relay. There was also an increase of 26 teams from last year. "I'm very pleased," said Clark.
Although the rain didn't dampen the spirits of those who participated, it probably did cut down on the numbers who were able to attend, Clark said. "I think the weather did affect people being at the event," she said. "We had a lot of survivors registered who weren't able to come because of the weather, the same with teams, and we understand that that happens."
